Birmingham City Council is looking for motivated individuals to join our 24/7/356 days Control Centre team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment helping support public safety across the city.
What you’ll do
As a Control Centre Operator, you will monitor CCTV systems ensuring compliance with legal frameworks and quality standards, respond to incidents, prioritise calls and maintain accurate records while working closely with colleagues and partner agencies. The role requires calm decision-making, excellent communication skills and the ability to remain composed during emergency situations.
We are looking for candidates who have:
- A current SIA Licence is desirable. Candidates with CCTV experience who do not currently hold an SIA Licence will still be considered. Successful applicants without a licence will be supported by Birmingham City Council to obtain one during probation.
- Experience working in a busy control centre or similar environment
- Confidence using Windows-based computer systems
- Strong verbal communication and listening skills
- The ability to write clear and concise reports
- Excellent attention to detail and accurate recall of information
- The ability to prioritise workloads and work independently
- A commitment to confidentiality, customer care and equal opportunities
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts including nights, weekends and public holidays
Additional Requirements
- This post is subject to Non-Police Personnel Vetting (NPPV) clearance.
- Applicants must be able to travel to shifts including early mornings, nights and weekends.
