Licensing Officer - Hackney Carriage and Private Hire

Permanent

Grade B - £28,598 - £33,699

Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review

Working 36.5 hours per week

 

We are seeking a Licensing Officer to join our very busy Taxi & Private Hire Licensing Team which is responsible for administering licences under the Town Police Clauses Act 1847, Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976,

You will be responsible for administering licence applications in accordance with the relevant statutory provisions and the Council’s policies and procedures.

Working as part of a team you will assist in the continuity of administrative support to meet the varied service needs of the business

What we are looking for: 

  • Experience and understanding of either the above legislation and of licensing principles or other similar regulatory processes.
  • Experience of dealing with the public face to face in a variety of situations
  • Experience of administrative and clerical duties
  • Excellent communication skills on the phone and by email
  • Good IT skills and confidence using a range of computer systems and Microsoft office
  • Ability to organise and prioritise a busy workload
