About the Role

We are looking to recruit proactive and customer-focused Allocations & Applications Officers to join our busy Housing Allocation & Application Service. You will be responsible for assessing housing applications, determining eligibility for the Housing Allocation Scheme, and matching customers to suitable properties. This is a rewarding role where you will make fair and lawful decisions that have a direct impact on people’s lives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess housing applications in line with legislation and council policy
  • Determine eligibility and notify customers of decisions within required timescales
  • Manage shortlisting, allocation and matching of properties
  • Carry out investigations and background checks to support decision-making
  • Maintain accurate case records in line with data protection requirements
  • Provide advice and guidance to customers and stakeholders
  • Support vulnerable customers and make appropriate referrals to partner agencies
  • Review and approve property adverts
  • Contribute to case preparation for reviews and legal proceedings

 About You

  • Experience in housing or a similar customer-facing role
  • Able to manage complex and sensitive situations
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Confident using IT systems and databases
