Birmingham City Council are seeking an experienced and motivated Re-Housing Manager to lead work supporting communities impacted by estate regeneration.
This is a key leadership role responsible for managing teams delivering engagement and consultation activities, ensuring residents are supported through re-housing transitions in a fair, transparent, and effective way. The postholder will work closely with internal services, partners, and local stakeholders to deliver positive outcomes for residents across regeneration schemes.
You will play a central role in shaping engagement strategies, co-ordinating operational activity, and ensuring that re-housing programmes are delivered in line with statutory requirements and Council priorities.
This is a hybrid role and onsite attendance is subject to service need.
What You Will Be Doing
- Lead and manage a team delivering re-housing and community engagement activity across estate regeneration projects
- Develop and deliver targeted engagement plans to support residents through transition and relocation
- Work collaboratively across Council services to agree compensation packages and support arrangements for residents
- Coordinate operational services to ensure consistent and fair delivery of re-housing programmes
- Build strong relationships with residents, community groups, businesses and elected Members
- Deliver public consultation events, workshops and drop-in sessions to promote re-housing opportunities
- Provide clear and transparent reporting on programme outcomes, risks and performance
- Manage external consultants, procurement processes and contract delivery
- Act as a key liaison point for Ward Councillors, providing briefings and advice on regeneration
About You
We are looking for candidates who can demonstrate:
Experience
- Significant experience in estate regeneration, clearance and re-housing
- Experience working across housing services, including Allocations & Lettings
- Experience working with diverse communities and delivering engagement activity
- Understanding of local government and experience advising or working with Members
Skills & Knowledge
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Ability to develop engagement strategies and manage complex casework
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly
- Ability to analyse complex data and present findings effectively
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
- Project management experience, including reporting on risks and performance
- Knowledge of resident engagement techniques within regeneration contexts
Qualifications
- Degree-level qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline relating to engagement or consultation
