  • completing all required documentation, inspection records and reporting systems accurately and on time
  • supporting emergency and reactive repairs, which may include occasional out-of-hours working when required
  • working collaboratively with colleagues to identify faults, risks and site issues and ensuring appropriate action is taken
  • supporting the safe installation and maintenance of playground equipment and water safety measures where required
  • contributing to a culture of safety, professionalism, and continuous improvement across playground services

What we are looking for:

You will bring practical experience in a trade, engineering, construction, fabrication or similar hands-on environment, along with the ability to work safely and effectively in outdoor and physically demanding conditions.

You should be confident using tools and equipment, working to technical standards and interpreting instructions, drawings or specifications.

An understanding of health and safety in operational environments is essential, along with the ability to work as part of a team and respond professionally to public-facing situations when required.

A full driving licence is required.

Training and development opportunities will be provided, including RPII inspection training and other relevant qualifications.

This is an important frontline role helping to ensure Birmingham’s playgrounds are safe, engaging and well maintained for the thousands of children and families who use them every day. You will play a direct role in supporting the quality, safety and enjoyment of the city’s parks and open spaces.
