Birmingham City Council’s Careline Service supports approximately 9,000 citizens across the city to live safely and independently in their own homes through technology-enabled care solutions.
About the Role
We are seeking creative, flexible, and resilient individuals to join our dynamic frontline service as a Careline Operator, working as part of a team delivering a vital 24/7 support function.
This role is office based, you will work across a rolling shift pattern (12 hours 40 minutes), including nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
You will assist in ensuring the delivery of a responsive, high-quality service that supports vulnerable citizens during emergencies and helps prevent escalation of risk.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide frontline intervention and prevention in the delivery of a 24/7 Assistive Technology Enabled Care service.
- Monitor and respond to mobile or technology‑enabled care equipment for vulnerable or elderly citizens in their own homes.
- Maintain accurate records of all calls received and client data using the computer system, including input, interrogation and retrieval of information.
- Maintain hard‑copy and manual records systems used for all functions of the operating centre.
- Work a rolling rota covering 24 hours per day, 365 days per year, averaging 36.5 hours per week.
Qualifications & Experience
Experience in a technology‑enabled care service or working with older and vulnerable people is beneficial but not essential.
