Working 36.5 hours per week.
The role is hybrid however the post holder would be required to work from Birmingham City Council buildings as business needs dictate.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated individual to join our Children and Families Directorate in Birmingham City Council as an Attendance and Data Coordinator. In this role, you will be responsible for the effective and efficient operation of school attendance and legal intervention data management processes; you will take the lead in producing statistics and reports related to legal intervention and notifications; and, you will supervise Grade B officers, providing quality assurance in the application of the various interventions designed to improve school attendance or ensure children are receiving their right to an education.

As an Attendance and Data Coordinator, you will;
- Manage and supervise team members, including allocation, monitoring workloads, appraisals; and associated HR processes
- Ensure the team supports families and advise parent/carers of their legal responsibilities regarding children not in receipt of education, in line with statutory regulations.
- Assist in the implementation and management of systems and processes to co-ordinate data management and extraction to report on key performance indicators
- Liaise with all customers and colleagues on matters concerning individual cases, operating with a high degree of confidentiality at all times.
- Manage the part-time/reduced timetable notification process, ensuring the guidance and online forms are up to date and fit for purpose.
- Support Attendance Support Officers, schools, BCC services and other agencies to identify children not receiving education including identifying and securing school places,
- Produce internal guidance to assist team members in undertaking their work and to ensure that all allocations are fair and transparent.
- Prepare and produce Penalty Notices and School Attendance Order paperwork, and to advise staff as appropriate.
- Set up and maintaining all legal intervention administrative systems including part-time timetables, ensuring statutory timescales are met.
We are looking for candidates with a high standard of education, with evidence of continued professional development. You should be able to demonstrate high level organisational skills, including experience and an ability to work within statutory timescales, offering advice and guidance in an effective and timely manner. You should have experience of extensive computerised systems and in particular word-processing packages, databases and spreadsheets and experience of producing statistical reports. You should have a proven ability to manage conflicting demands and to make appropriate decisions as well as working in partnership with other agencies. You should be able to work independently within clear guidelines but also have the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
