Multi-Disciplinary Senior Practitioner - Children’s Occupational Therapy Services
6 month Act Up
Grade D £45,091 – £51,356
Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review
Working 36.5 hours per week
This is an opportunity to develop leadership and management skills focused on improving outcomes for children and young people across Birmingham within the CYPOT at home Team and Birmingham Childrens Trust workstream. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to assist in facilitating a high standard of practice from staff and deliver timely support to children and families across Birmingham. This will include children’s homes and looked after children residing out of area.
Key responsibilities include:
• To support the management of the Service with monitoring professional practice, service delivery, staff recruitment and development.
• To carry a caseload of children and families, where problems are presented as consistently challenging / complex and require advanced level of skill and knowledge.
• To undertake joint working of cases with team members, where there are complex cases, and/or assist with the development of areas of competence.
• To contribute to the continuous professional development of Occupational Therapists.
• To undertake a specialist Occupational Therapy role for the following:
- Palliative care cases in partnership with Health.
- Liaising with Birmingham Childrens Trust staff and other professionals concerned with meeting the needs of children and young persons, particularly those at risk or involved in Safeguarding / Child Protection investigations.
- Liaising with Health Staff regarding adaptations and equipment, to meet the needs of Children & Young People.
- Being involved in the development of students/practice teaching.
- Maintaining service user records and keeping informed on current legislation relating to grants, allowances, palliative care etc.
- Manual handling assessments, training and consultation around continuing care and palliative care / end of life.
