This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a newly shaped role at the centre of one of Birmingham’s most ambitious housing programmes.
Birmingham City Council is transforming how we deliver affordable homes at scale, and we are looking for an experienced and motivated Applications and Allocations Team Leader to help drive this forward. You will play a key role in supporting the delivery of large‑scale acquisitions and regeneration schemes that are redefining housing provision across the city.
You will be working across innovative acquisition programmes and complex regeneration schemes, where traditional approaches don’t always apply. From targeted lettings to flexible allocation models and a blend of Temporary Accommodation and General Needs housing, you’ll be part of a service that is adapting to meet growing demand in new and creative ways.
What you'll be doing:
- Supporting the planning and delivery of allocations across major acquisitions and regeneration schemes
- Helping ensure homes are allocated fairly, efficiently and in line with the Council’s priorities
- Coordinating Local Letting Plans and targeted allocation approaches
- Managing shortlisting and allocation processes to ensure accuracy, transparency and timeliness
- Working closely with Managers, Voids and Lettings teams, Temporary Accommodation services and Regeneration colleagues
- Supporting high‑profile, time‑critical programmes involving multiple stakeholders
- Using performance data and feedback to support continuous improvement and smarter ways of working
- Helping to build capacity within the service while protecting day‑to‑day delivery
What we're looking for:
- Experience in housing allocations, lettings or a similar customer‑focused service
- A strong understanding of allocation processes and the challenges within social housing
- Highly organised with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment
- Confident working collaboratively with a range of teams and stakeholders
- Analytical and detail‑focused, with the ability to work with performance data
- A proactive approach, with the flexibility to adapt to changing demands
- A team leader mindset, with the ability to support, guide and motivate others
Why join us?
This is your chance to be part of a high-impact, evolving programme that is delivering real change across Birmingham. You’ll gain exposure to complex, large‑scale housing schemes while helping to shape how allocations are delivered in the future.
If you’re driven by challenge, innovation and the opportunity to make a real difference, we’d love to hear from you.
Please upload your up-to-date CV via the attachments part of your application, this is required for shortlisting. Unfortunately, we cannot consider any applications without a CV attached
