Working 36.5 hours per week, Saturday working will be required on a rota basis

Birmingham City Council is on an exciting improvement journey, and Early Intervention and Prevention is at the heart of this. High quality advice, information and guidance can make all the difference in supporting people to remain independent within their own homes and communities .

We are seeking a dynamic individual to support the new Connected Communities model that sees homes and money services delivered alongside the statutory library service. The Community Library Hub Manager will oversee the service across numerous library locations. You will be passionate about empowering communities through access to information, digital services and cultural activities.

You will form part of an effective and integrated leadership team. 

Community Libraries are seeing investment into our spaces to ensure that they are modern and flexible, delivering statutory services and working in partnership.

You will also work closely with local stakeholders to develop a strong network of support services and activities, translating the library’s vision into practical, community-led initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Being responsible for the management of library services provided within and through the designated community Library hub network. Including day to day management and administration, and direct leadership of some service developments and specific projects, ensuring statutory compliance.

Being responsible for building compliance as the responsible person.

Being responsible for the recruitment, motivation, and development of the Hub. Including the library function, staff, and partners, ensuring it performs successfully in delivering its service objectives and that staffing levels are optimised.

Leading and making decisions based on data and insights, effectively improving Community Library Hub offers across Birmingham.

Leading the development of a cross-functional team that is assigned to the service outcomes across Birmingham.

Having ability to question poor performance and to drive continuous improvement.
