As a senior Internal Communications leader, you’ll sit at the heart of a complex organisation—translating strategy into meaning, and vision into action. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Communications, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring every colleague understands not just what we’re doing—but why it matters.

What you’ll lead

Own and deliver a high-impact internal communications strategy that cuts through, connects, and drives real engagement
Lead and energise a talented Internal Comms team, ensuring delivery is sharp, on time, and on budget
Shape organisational alignment—bringing our Corporate Plan and City Vision to life for thousands of employees
Partner with HR and senior leadership to embed engagement, wellbeing and performance through compelling communications
Drive innovation—champion smarter tools, digital channels, and modern content approaches that deliver efficiency and impact
Elevate internal reputation—positioning Internal Communications as a trusted, strategic enabler across the council
Deliver senior leadership roadshows that inform, inspire and build belief in our direction of travel
