Location: Blakesley Hall, B33 8TH

Working 12.5hrs per week, term time only. Working times are Monday - Friday term time only between the hours of 10am to 2:30pm- to be confirmed  
including 3 cleaning days in school holidays and 5 teacher training days 

Cityserve is a Birmingham City Council catering service for school meals providing fresh and nutritious food for school kitchen across the UK, healthy eating is a continuous theme throughout all of our menus, and we are committed to the wellbeing of pupils. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a busy environment, delivers excellent customer service and is able motivate and support team members.

As a General Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Assist keeping the kitchen and dining rooms clean & tidy, to include sweeping, mopping, and washing up
  • Food service and preparation knowledge and experience
  • To serve meals and refreshments in line with the schools’ requirements 
  • To be aware of the special dietary needs
  • You will work collaboratively with managers and supervisors to ensure the first-class delivery of food in school kitchens
  • And any other duties commensurate with the post 
  • Willing to take training as required and necessary , to include Mandatory IT training through I learn annually 

Previous kitchen experience is Essential to this role.

Essential:

  • Food Safety Level 2 certificate in date
  • Allergy Awareness Certificate in date 
  • Experience in a catering environment
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good people skills
  • Passion about food and customer service
  • Dedicated team player mindful of observing safeguarding and professional standards
  • High standards and quality drive
  • A ‘can do’ attitude
  • Display a smart professional appearance representing CityServe in a positive manner
  • Reliable and flexible
  • Able to perform well and remain professional whilst under pressure
