About The Role
This post in the housing department at London Borough of Bexley, offers an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting households struggling with cost of living rises, and to contribute to strengthening the council’s approach to reducing inequalities and disadvantage across the borough.
We are transforming our service to improve homelessness prevention, reduce temporary accommodation and end street homelessness. To be successful in this role, you will have ability to provide a comprehensive housing advice /options/ statutory homeless service to those in housing need.
This is a fixed-term contract for up to 1 year. This contract may be extended depending on service needs. We welcome applications from recent graduates and those that have transferable skills and the ability to develop any gaps in knowledge. On the job training will be provided to all successful applicants.
Candidate Profile
To be considered for interview, your CV and supporting statement will clearly evidence:
Awareness of legislation relating to housing advice, homelessness, housing management and the allocation of housing, with a good practical understanding of the range of housing problems people may experience.
Broad knowledge and understanding of the housing and support needs of homeless and housing applicants and tenants.
Experience of providing quality advice and information to members of the public and of handling complaints and enquiries.
Excellent knowledge of negotiation and mediation techniques and their practical application.
