About The Role

We are recruiting a Rough Sleeper Navigator for a Fixed Term Maternity Cover for approximately 12 months.  It  is an exciting opportunity to be part of dynamic team working at the London Borough of Bexley looking to make a real difference to prevent and reduce rough sleeping in our borough.

The Rough Sleeper Navigator, will be the point of contact and advocate for people who are referred to our services and with service providers and agencies and provide outreach services to rough sleepers.

To directly intervene with people who use local services in a one-to-one or group setting to help them to address their problematic alcohol/drug use.

Encourage and empower service users to improve their general health, including dietary needs, personal hygiene. And to partake in relevant vaccination programs that are available.

Ensure clients are provided with the correct support to improve their social situation.  This may include assistance with housing, benefits, accessing community services employment and training options as well as budgeting skills.

Engagement with service users to remove any structural and social barriers to accessing treatment and recovery services

The post holder will be required to work in partnership with the manager and colleagues from MHCLG to ensure that the Bexley Rough Sleeping Service is in harmony with the ending rough sleeping strategy.

To contribute to the review of  the Council’s provision for rough sleepers, and where appropriate contract/SLA monitoring, weekly and monthly returns, and improvement plans as  required to ensure the team provides an excellent service which represents best value for the department.

Candidate Profile
 
You will be able to work under pressure and manage a busy workload, able to prioritise and organise your work so that customer care is never compromised.
Work flexibly and provide occasional out of hours visit in conjunction with outreach service, at least once a week.
Case coordinate in a multi-agency environment ensuring clients are signposted and able to access support from relevant services.
A full valid driving licence is essential, and you must have access to your own vehicle for work purposes.
