Candidate Profile
ABOUT YOU
As the ideal candidate, you will hold a Level 2 qualification (or higher) in Early Years, Health and Social Care, Youth Work, Advice and Guidance, or a related field. You will also have GCSEs (Grade C/4 or above) in English Language and Maths, or equivalent functional skills in literacy and numeracy. A willingness to undertake further training and professional development relevant to the role is essential.
You will also demonstrate:
- Experience of engaging effectively with children, parents, and families, alongside a strong understanding of the challenges families may face, particularly within diverse communities.
- Confidence in working collaboratively with a range of professionals across services, including education, health, and social care.
- Knowledge of local services, community resources, and support networks available within the London Borough of Bexley.
- A good working knowledge of early help, safeguarding, and child protection frameworks.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships and work both independently and as part of a team.
- Competence in maintaining accurate records and case notes, alongside effective telephone and administrative skills.
- The ability to develop creative and inclusive approaches to support children and families to express their needs and influence service delivery.
- A clear commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion, with the ability to apply anti-discriminatory practice to ensure services are accessible to all.
- Skills in empowering, motivating, and coaching individuals to overcome barriers and achieve positive outcomes.
- Good IT skills, including the use of Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Teams, Excel), and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Flexibility to travel across the borough and work evenings or weekends where required.
A driving licence and access to a vehicle may be required for this role. Reasonable adjustments will be considered in line with the Equality Act.
