Pride in Place Neighbourhood Board Applications
Basildon Borough Council
Pride in Place Neighbourhood Board Applications- Chalvedon and Laindon Central
We’re looking for people who care about their community – and that means YOU.
Basildon has been given a once in a generation opportunity. With £40 million of Government investment already secured for Laindon and Chalvedon, we’re putting local people at the heart of deciding how this funding is used.
To do this, we’re establishing Pride in Place Neighbourhood Boards in each area – and we want as many people as possible to put themselves forward. If you think that might be you, but you’re not sure, or you just want to find out a bit more information, we’re really happy to chat with you. Please contact us at PrideinPlace@basildon.gov.uk and we can answer any questions or arrange a call.
These Boards will help shape how £20 million is invested locally, guide decisions, ensure accountability, and help build a long-term vision for each neighbourhood. We’re recruiting for both Board Members and a Board Chairin each area.
- PLEASE INDICATE YOUR PREFERENCE OF ROLE AND LOCATION WITHIN YOUR SUPPORTING STATEMENT/ APPLICATION
Who should apply?
Anyone and everyone with an interest in their community.
There is no “ideal” background, no required qualifications, and no expectation that you’ve done something like this before. What matters most is that this is your community, and you care about making it even better.
You might be:
- a local resident with ideas and passion
- someone active in these neighbourhoods or a local community group
- a local parent, carer, young adult, business owner, volunteer, frontline worker, or retiree
- part of a local school, college, charity, sports club, arts organisation, health service, or faith group
Or you might not fit any of these descriptions – and that’s completely fine.
If you want to contribute, we want to hear from you.
We especially welcome applications from people whose voices are not always heard, including younger residents, older residents, people from diverse backgrounds, and those who may not usually put themselves forward. This programme will be strongest when it reflects the whole community.
The only requirement is that you must live and/or work in the Neighbourhood Board area.
A detailed map can be found here: https://www.ons.gov.uk/explore-local-statistics/areas/E07000066-basildon
If you are unsure if you are within the boundaries, please contact us on PrideinPlace@basildon.gov.uk and we can confirm for you.
