Location: Hybrid working/Bas Centre – 3 days minimum office-based

Contract Type and Hours: 12-month fixed term/Secondment

About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional Community Safety Officer (ASB) to join our high-performing Community Safety Team.

Community Safety is a top priority for the Council, and this is an opportunity to play a key-role in a high-profile, ambitious team, based within our community safety hub.

You will help shape and deliver our response to anti-social behaviour in public spaces, working within a strong multi-agency partnership including Essex Police, Essex Fire Service and the voluntary sector.

You will drive real change – tackling ASB, Hate Crime, and Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG), and improving feelings of safety across the borough.

Key responsibilities will include;

  • Lead and coordinate ASB Case Reviews
  • Act as the main point of contact for the Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO)
  • Deliver targeted, problem-solving approaches, mobilising and coordinating partners
  • Produce clear, impactful reports and briefings
  • Represent the team confidently at partnership meetings

About what / who we are looking for

You will be confident, resilient and proactive, with excellent proven communication skills.

You will preferably bring experience of working on community safety issues, ideally within a multi-agency environment, and thrive in a fast-paced role.  

You will need strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage complex workloads, competing priorities, and to work confidently on your own initiative and flexibly under pressure.
