About the Role

We are looking for a Rehousing Assistant to join our Housing Applications and Allocations Team within the Council's Rehousing and Homelessness Service.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key supporting role within a busy, customer-focused team that helps residents access housing services across the borough. You will provide administrative support to officers responsible for processing housing applications, managing the Housing Register and allocating social housing.

The role involves responding to enquiries from residents, partner agencies and stakeholders by telephone, email and in person, as well as assisting with the administration of housing applications and allocations. You will help verify documents, maintain accurate records, prepare property adverts and ensure information is processed efficiently and accurately.

You will also provide wider administrative support across the service, including assisting with reviews and complaints, arranging meetings, taking minutes and helping to coordinate daily operational activities. This is a varied role that requires excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities within a fast-paced environment.

 

About what/ who we are looking for

We are looking for someone who is organised, adaptable and committed to delivering excellent customer service. The successful candidate will have:

  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience of dealing with customers and responding to enquiries in a professional and empathetic manner.
  • The ability to maintain accurate records and process information with a high degree of attention to detail.
  • Good IT skills and experience using Microsoft Office applications and databases.
  • The ability to prioritise workloads and work effectively within a busy team environment.
  • Experience of working in a housing, local government or customer service environment would be advantageous.
  • A commitment to providing a high-quality service to residents and stakeholders.
