About the Role

The role of the Systems and Controls Officer is to provide dedicated technical IT support for software operationally within Revenues and Benefits.  The primary objective is the delivery of reliable and accurate IT services at all times taking into consideration any legislative changes. As part of the role the Systems & Controls Officer is responsible for the installation and testing of new software modules and regular update releases, system interrogation through writing bespoke reports and financial reconciliation between a number of systems as well as the collection of Direct Debits and the payment of Housing Benefit.  The post also plays an active part in the annual billing process for Council Tax, Business Rates and Housing Rents and is also is responsible for the completion of various government returns as well as internal and external statistics.

The role is part of a successful, nationally recognised Revenues & Benefits Shared Service between Basildon Borough Council and Brentwood Borough Council 

About what we are looking for

We are looking for people who have a sound understanding of Revenues and Benefits.  You will ideally need previous experience of working in a systems administration environment and specifically with the Civica Revenues System or Civica HMS system. You will need to be confident to carry out structured testing and system implementations and will be used to working to specific deadlines.
