Location: Agile/Mobile working (minimum 2 to 3 days per week based within Communities or Basildon Council Sites)

About the Role

The Housing Assistant provides the first point of contact for tenants of the Council’s housing stock, supporting the delivery of responsive, customer focused tenancy and estate management services.  

 Working closely with the Tenancy Services Compliance Officer, the post holder will play a key role in supporting the Councils statutory compliance Programme.  This includes liaising with tenants, facilitating access to properties, maintaining accurate records, supporting the scheduling and coordination of inspections and assisting with other council-led compliance and safety interventions  

 The post holder will provide administrative support to the Tenancy Services Team and contribute to the effective handling of tenant enquiries, ensuring customers receive timely, professional and effective assistance.

 

About what/ who we are looking for

We are seeking a motivated and customer focused individual who enjoys working with people and delivering excellent service, The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience of working effectively within a team environment
  • Experience of dealing with members of the public or tenants, including those with complex needs and challenging behaviours
  • A thorough knowledge and understanding of information technology with the ability to use a range of systems and software confidently.

You will be an effective communicator with a professional and empathetic approach, able to build positive relationships with tenants and colleagues while managing a varied workload.
