About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional for a Support Officer to work as part of The Activity Centres Team within Cultural and Health services.  This is an exciting opportunity for the right applicant to engage with the over 50's community and work alongside with other organisations within a front facing environment.  Basildon Borough Council retains most of its services and therefore is a very diverse organisation in which the right applicant can build on their skills, knowledge, training and experience.

The Support Officer will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of the Centres by supporting the Activity Centres Administrative officer and providing appropriate adaptable and developmental outlook to all work areas.  As a member of the team, the Support Officer will ensure that all Members have access to a warm, friendly and safe environment.  The Support Officer will assist Members with their mobility, maximise participation in all activities whilst maintaining a warm, caring and confidential attitude to all Members. 

The Activity Centres provide and promote facilities and services that enhance the quality of life for over 50's residents of Basildon Borough, with the key objective to develop and maintain a service that increasingly focuses on the promotion of health, wellbeing and independence

The successful applicant will be a highly organised professional with proven support skills and have experience of dealing with the public or older people.  Your interpersonal skills, diplomacy, influencing, negotiating and relationship building skills will be some of your keys to success in improving the quality of life for our members.  To meet our expectations in this exciting role you'll also have good self-awareness, be resilient, creative and an innovative lateral thinker.
