We have an exciting opportunity to join our Environmental Health team following the recent retirement of colleagues and expansion of the team:

Environmental Health Technical Officer (Private Sector Housing), full-time equivalent

We are looking for experienced, committed and dynamic individuals to contribute to the work of the Environmental Protection & Housing team, responding to a variety of issues across the borough. We have a career development scheme, so applications from students and newly qualified EHPs are also welcomed.

Our Private Sector Housing Technical Officers typically investigate allegations of disrepair and overcrowding and conduct proactive inspections of licensed properties.

All officers will provide advice within their areas of expertise to residents, businesses and other stakeholders and assist council colleagues and partner agencies achieve their aims (e.g. Planning, Empty Homes and Licensing, etc.).

Ideally, you will have previous experience of working in a local government enforcement environment, which will include a working knowledge in the practical application of relevant legislation. Your abilities will include excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to work with residents, businesses and colleagues as well as a range of related agencies.
