Headteacher - lead an Outstanding school that changes young lives

Are you an inspirational leader who believes every young person deserves the chance to re-engage, recover and thrive? Northgate School is seeking an exceptional Headteacher to lead our Ofsted Outstanding provision.

Northgate is a local authority-maintained pupil referral unit in Edgware, Barnet, supporting young people aged 13 to 19 with mental health challenges who are unable to access mainstream education. Based at Edgware Community Hospital, we also provide the educational service to the Beacon Centre, a Tier 4 adolescent CAMHS inpatient and day unit. Every young person follows a personalised curriculum designed around their needs, helping them engage with learning and, wherever possible, return successfully to mainstream school or to move on to their next educational setting

What we are looking for

  • A skilled school leader with the vision, warmth and resilience to lead a specialist setting.

  • A relentless commitment to safeguarding and to the wellbeing and progress of vulnerable young people.

  • The ability to inspire a dedicated, multi-disciplinary team and to work seamlessly with health, social care and mainstream partners.

  • A genuine belief in the potential of every young person, whatever their starting point.

Please download the job description here.

What we offer

  • The opportunity to lead a warm, therapeutic and genuinely Outstanding school.

  • A committed, expert and caring staff team.

  • Close partnership working with CAMHS and a unique, rewarding educational setting.

  • Strong support from the Management Committee and the local authority.
