About Barnet Council
Barnet is a borough with much to be proud of. Our excellent schools, vibrant town centres, vast green spaces and diverse communities all help make it a great place to live and work. As a council we want to build on these strengths as we move into the future. We are growing and developing as an organisation to meet the challenges facing our borough and we are committed to working with partner organisations and residents to make Barnet even better. As an organisation, our staff are committed to Our Values: Learning to Improve, Caring, Inclusive, Collaborative – which drive everything we do.

About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced clinician and leader to provide strategic and clinical leadership to Barnet’s well-established and expanding Mental Health Support Teams (MHST), working in close partnership with Early Help, to advance and embed the borough’s ‘Team Around the School’ service delivery model.

This is a senior post within Barnet Integrated Clinical Services (BICS), working closely with Early Help, schools, health, and external partners to deliver high-quality, evidence-based and inclusive mental health support to children, young people, and their families in Barnet.

The post holder will provide strategic leadership of MHST delivery across three Early Help Hubs, including the design, implementation and evaluation of the Team Around the School (TAS) model with our Early Help partner. The role involves line management of senior managers and oversight of a multidisciplinary workforce, with responsibility for clinical governance, quality assurance, safeguarding and risk management. Working in partnership with Early Help, schools, commissioners and multi‑agency partners, the post holder will oversee budgets, performance and service development, while maintaining a small clinical caseload and providing specialist clinical supervision.

Why Barnet?

Barnet is one of the most diverse boroughs in London which provides opportunities and challenges that are rewarding, both professionally and personally. We are focused on making Barnet an even better place to live for all families; we call this ambition “Family Friendly Barnet”. At the heart of this vision is our aim of helping families, children and young people to become resilient so they can thrive and achieve, a goal that is reflected in our therapeutic approach.
