Community Safety, CCTV & Intelligence Manager
London Borough of Barnet
This role is responsible for ensuring the smooth and reliable operation of Barnet Council’s CCTV and public space surveillance services. You’ll play a key part in keeping systems available, secure and compliant, helping to support community safety across the borough.
You’ll manage and support the technical infrastructure behind the CCTV service, including networks, video management systems and access controls. This includes monitoring performance, resolving faults, maintaining systems in line with contracts, and working closely with specialist suppliers and service providers to keep everything running effectively.
Alongside the technical work, the role contributes to intelligence gathering and the effective use of CCTV to help reduce crime and anti‑social behaviour. You’ll work with a wide range of internal teams and partners, support service development and innovation, and deputise for the Head of Service when required, including assisting with budget and project oversight.
About you
You will have a degree‑level qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent professional experience, with a proven track record of delivering intelligence‑led, evidence‑based outcomes in a community safety or CCTV‑focused role. You will bring strong technical knowledge of CCTV systems, enterprise video management platforms and associated infrastructure, alongside a sound, up‑to‑date understanding of the legal and regulatory frameworks governing surveillance, enforcement and data protection.
You will be an effective leader with experience of managing people, performance and complex work programmes, including partnership‑based and multi‑agency activity. You will demonstrate excellent judgement, service improvement capability and the ability to deliver high‑quality work in a demanding environment.
You will communicate clearly and confidently, build strong working relationships, and work flexibly both independently and as part of a team. You will be highly organised, customer‑focused and comfortable handling sensitive information securely. Above all, you will model Barnet’s values by working with integrity, inclusivity, accountability and a strong commitment to continuous improvement.
