As we continue to deliver high‑quality services across a diverse and complex organisation, we are looking for an experienced and forward‑thinking Health & Safety Business Partner to join our Safety, Health and Wellbeing (SHaW) team.
This is an impactful role where you’ll provide trusted professional advice, support leadership teams, and help shape a positive safety culture across the Council.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Health & Safety Business Partner, you will:
- Act as the key point of contact for designated departments, building strong relationships and providing expert, pragmatic advice on all health, safety, and well-being matters.
- Support the delivery of Barnet's Safety, Health & Wellbeing priorities
- Lead and support risk management activities, safety audits, inspections, and assurance reviews.
- Provide coaching and capacity‑building support to managers, helping them meet their statutory responsibilities with confidence.
- Support incident investigations and ensure lessons learned are translated into effective, sustainable improvements.
- Analyse data and trends to identify risk areas and promote proactive solutions.
- Champion a positive, collaborative safety culture aligned to the Council’s values and ways of working.
What We’re Looking For
You will bring:
- Strong experience in a health and safety role within a complex organisation, ideally public sector or local authority.
- Relevant safety qualification. NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) or working towards it.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage constructively with managers, frontline services and senior leaders.
- A practical, solution‑focused approach that balances compliance with operational realities.
- Strong collaboration skills, and a commitment to supporting a culture that puts safety and well-being at the heart of service delivery.
