<div> <p>To fulfil the statutory role of Superintendent Registrar in accordance with the Births and Deaths Registration Act 1953, the Marriage Act 1949 and Civil Partnership Act 2004, ensuring the lawful, accurate and timely registration of births, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships.</p> <p>The postholder is legally responsible for the delivery of all statutory registration services and related nationality and citizenship ceremonies. They lead and manage the Register Office as a distinct business unit, ensuring high standards of customer service, legal compliance, financial sustainability and workforce capability.</p> <p>The role includes the exercise of statutory powers, liaison with national and local partners including the General Register Office and Home Office, and responsibility for secure records management, data protection, approved premises licensing, business continuity and emergency planning.</p> <p>The Superintendent Registrar contributes to Directorate and corporate leadership, represents the service at strategic forums, and deputises for the Proper Officer as required, while driving service improvement, modernisation and income generation.</p> </div>

<p> </p> <ul> <li>Willingness and ability to work flexibly, including weekends, evenings and emergency out‑of‑hours situations, to meet statutory service requirements</li> <li>Responsibility for availability of a 24/7 registration service, including deathbed (Registrar General’s Licence) marriages</li> <li>Requirement to act as Responsible Person for the Register Office building, including health and safety and business continuity responsibilities</li> <li>This role requires suitability to work in accordance with relevant safeguarding, security and regulatory standards</li> <li>Willingness to complete of all statutory training for the role of Superintendent Registrar</li> </ul> <p> </p>
