The Participation & Engagement Team plays a critical role at the centre of the Council. Our work helps shape, drive and support efforts to ensure that participation and partnership working is core to everything we do in our aims to tackle inequality. The Health & Wellbeing Coproduction Officer will deliver a unique function within the Participation & Engagement team, working in an interface capacity between the council and the VCFSE sector. The post holder will work to improve connections between communities and health and wellbeing programmes, using innovative methods to engage, mobilise and work alongside the sector. Having a strong understanding of partnership working and participatory approaches in local government, particularly those working with the VCSFE sector, you will utilise these to ensure that community voice is central to addressing health inequalities within neighbourhoods. Managing a small testing and learning pot, the post holder will work with the sector to design and deliver prototypes to address health inequalities within seldom-heard communities, discovering vulnerabilities and translating community voice upwards to inform the future focus on developing good health programming.

Special requirements for this post

Knowledge, Skills and Experience - A minimum of 2 years’ experience in local government, with knowledge in relation to community participation, civil society, engagement techniques, communities and citizens. Additionally:

  • Capacity for strategic thinking, analytical insight and intellectual curiosity.
  • An understanding of the key elements of community development and enabling participation in local government.
  • Ability to deliver multistakeholder policies/ projects / programmes, to deliver clearly identified benefits using a data-led approach.

A basic DBS Check is required. This is a hybrid working role, you will be expected to be in the office at least 3 days a week.

About you

We are looking for a highly skilled candidate, with experience in delivering a range of community-based projects, and strong knowledge of engagement and participation techniques. You will be required to work between teams, interpreting data to deliver, monitor and track outcomes for a range of programmes. We are looking for someone with the ability to work with multiple stakeholders, especially the VCFSE sector, to deliver outcomes for residents. A key outcome of the role, will be the use of coproduction to achieve health related outcomes, horizon scanning for opportunities and working alongside the sector to ensure that resident voice is used to inform best practice. Whilst not essential, experience of health-related projects would be advantageous. The post holder will be required to brief Senior Managers and Members and produce high quality briefings on a wide range of topics.
