Street Lighting Technician

We are looking for a committed and knowledgeable Street Lighting Technician to play a key role in managing the Borough’s Street Lighting Assets. Working closely with the Street Lighting Engineer, you will help shape and deliver the Council’s Street Lighting policies, ensuring our network is safe, efficient, and maintained to the highest possible standards. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with technical expertise, strong organisational skills, and a passion for delivering high‑quality public services to join the team.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage the street lighting across the Borough and support the development of related Council policies and priorities
- Oversee the term maintenance contract, including contractor supervision, quality checks and invoice approval
- Keep the street lighting management system accurate and up to date
- Provide technical advice to other Council teams
- Ensure all lighting installations meet required standards and are properly certified
- Deliver a reliable, effective and customer‑focused street lighting service
- Lead on energy‑saving and carbon‑reduction initiatives
Special requirements for this post
Relevant Electrical based background and qualifications, with technical knowledge of street lighting, current standards and codes of practice.
Good knowledge and experience of street lighting alongside working knowledge of a Highway Authority’s Statutory Duties.
