The Housing Team in Barking and Dagenham has a proud history of managing Council tenancies and will continue to strive to put residents at the heart of what we do. We deliver more than bricks and mortar and will use our influence to deliver positive change across the neighbourhoods we operate in. We strive to raise the standards of social housing, meeting the aspirations of our residents and fostering a culture of excellence. As the Housing Manager, you will play a pivotal role in leading and managing a team of 8 Housing Officers to ensure the delivery of a high-quality housing management service that meets the needs of our residents. This role requires a hands-on approach, focusing on positive outcomes and deliverables for residents while maintaining compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Special requirements for this post

You will have a working knowledge of tenancy and leasehold law and their application, with an understanding of key local issues around housing generally.

Committed to continual professional development including a willingness to complete the Chartered Institute for Housing CIH or other relevant qualification.

(Please note, pending confirmation of legislative changes, this role will require a qualification to demonstrate competence. If not already qualified, there will be an expectation to study towards a professional qualification)

Proven ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve ambitious goals, fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration. You are adept at overseeing day-to-day operations, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and high standards of service delivery. Skilled in building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, including tenants, elected members, and partners. You have a proactive and a creative problem-solving mindset, capable of addressing challenges and seizing opportunities
