We are looking for a highly motivated and detail‑oriented Transactional Finance Team Leader to take charge of our Accounts Payable and Financial Systems teams. This is a pivotal role where you will safeguard financial integrity, drive compliance and deliver efficiency across all transactional processes. As our Team Leader, you won’t just manage processes - you will shape the way we deliver financial services. You will be trusted to protect public funds, strengthen governance and provide the insights that guide key business decisions. Key responsibilities:

  • Lead with purpose: Inspire and develop a finance team, fostering accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Manage financial systems: Oversee operations, safeguard data integrity and ensure secure, compliant access.
  • Deliver excellence: Ensure accurate and timely payments, enforce financial controls, and meet statutory obligations.
  • Protect public funds: Manage audits, fraud prevention and risk management with robust safeguards.
  • Be the expert: Provide guidance on CIS, IR35, VAT and other statutory requirements.
  • Enable decisions: Produce financial reports, statutory returns and insightful analysis to support leadership.
  • Drive resilience: Maintain business continuity plans and lead month‑end and year‑end reconciliations.
  • Empower stakeholders: Train and support colleagues, embedding best practice in Purchase-to‑Pay processes.

About you

We are looking for someone who brings both technical expertise and strong leadership skills. To be successful in this role, you will be:

  • Fully or part-qualified CCAB accountant or AAT Level 4 (merit/distinction), with at least 1 year working experience in a Finance role.
  • Experienced in financial systems (ERP platforms), with knowledge of chart of accounts and data mapping.
  • Skilled in statutory reporting and purchase to pay requirements (including CIS, IR35, VAT, FOI).
  • Knowledgeable in internal controls, audit preparation and system security.
  • Experienced in leading teams of 5+ staff, driving performance and embedding continuous improvement.
  • Proactive, solutions-focused and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communicator, able to train, guide and support stakeholders across the Purchase-to-Pay process.
