<p>An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Licensing Support Officer to join the Council's Licensing Team, supporting a diverse range of licensing functions, from alcohol and entertainment licences to animal welfare and special treatments.</p> <p>This role offers an excellent opportunity to join a busy and professional Licensing Team, supporting services that help protect residents, businesses and communities. You will assess and process a wide range of licence applications, provide advice and guidance to customers, issue licences, maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and council policies. Working with a variety of IT systems and databases, you will manage enquiries, support colleagues and contribute to an efficient, customer-focused service.</p>

Special requirements for this post

<p>The successful candidate will have experience of administrative work dealing with a high volume of data and will have a clear desire to undertake on the job learning. They will have the ability to work as part of a team and will be confident in assisting managers, staff and members of the public to resolve their queries.</p>

About you

<p>This is a vital public protection role, combining excellent customer service with effective administration in a busy, customer-facing environment. You will deal with licensing enquiries, process and validate applications, issue licences, and respond professionally to public concerns about licensed premises.</p> <p>Working with complex legislation and statutory timescales, you will maintain accurate records, provide reliable management information, and support informed decision-making.</p> <p>The role requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities while delivering a responsive, efficient service. You will use a range of systems to ensure licence applications are processed accurately, records remain up to date, and documentation supports inspections, investigations and enforcement activity.</p> <p>In return, you will gain valuable experience, develop specialist licensing knowledge, and play an important role in protecting residents and supporting local businesses.</p>
