<p>This apprenticeship offers an excellent opportunity to develop core regulatory skills within Community Safety & Regulatory Services. As a Regulatory Compliance Apprentice, you will gain hands‑on experience across housing enforcement, property licensing, food business inspections, noise and nuisance investigations, environmental protection casework, and wider community‑based compliance activity. The role combines office‑based work, field visits, case reviews, and exposure to real enforcement processes, providing a strong foundation for a future career in regulatory services.</p> <p>This is a 21-22 month fixed‑term apprenticeship aligned to the Level 4 Regulatory Compliance Officer standard. The successful candidate must be available to start on or before 7 September 2026, with interviews scheduled for August 2026. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to interview and must ensure they meet all eligibility criteria before applying.</p>

<p>You will be motivated, willing to learn, and able to work positively with colleagues, residents, landlords, businesses, and partner agencies.</p> <p>You will demonstrate an interest in regulatory, housing or community‑based work and be comfortable undertaking a mix of office tasks, inspections, and evidence‑gathering activities.</p> <p>Strong communication skills, good organisation, attention to detail and a professional approach are essential.</p> <p>This apprenticeship is ideal for A‑level leavers, graduates in unrelated subjects, individuals seeking a vocational route into regulatory work, or early‑career applicants looking to build practical experience.</p>

<p>Community Safety & Regulatory Services plays a key role in ensuring safe, compliant, and well‑managed homes, businesses, and public environments for residents. Our teams deliver housing enforcement, property licensing, food safety inspections, environmental protection casework, and wider compliance activity across the borough. We provide structured training, a dedicated mentor, paid study time and access to the Council’s wider learning and development offer. Successful completion of the apprenticeship may support progression into permanent roles within the service, subject to performance and available vacancies.</p><p> </p>

<p>To be eligible for this apprenticeship, you must meet both national apprenticeship funding rules and London Borough of Barking and Dagenham (LBBD) requirements. Please ensure you meet all the criteria below before applying.</p> <p>You must have the right to work in the UK and have been ordinarily resident in the UK for the three years immediately prior to the apprenticeship start date. Please note that time spent in the UK on certain visa routes does not count towards this residency requirement. This includes Tier 1 (Entrepreneur), Tier 4 (Student) and Tier 5 (Temporary Worker) visas. Individuals currently on these visa types are not eligible to start an apprenticeship, regardless of how long they have been in the UK. EU/EEA nationals must hold EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS) Settled or Pre‑Settled Status. If you hold a visa, you must also have valid immigration permission covering the full duration of the apprenticeship, or evidence that you have made an in‑time application to extend your visa.</p> <p>You must be aged 16 or over on the apprenticeship start date.</p> <p>You must be able to complete the full apprenticeship programme and end‑point assessment within the agreed timeframe. If you require a visa, this must cover the full duration of the apprenticeship. You must also spend at least 50% of your working hours in England for the duration of the programme, including if you are working in a hybrid or remote role.</p> <p>Apprenticeships must provide substantial new learning. You must not already hold a qualification at the same or a higher level in a similar subject area. Your training provider will review your prior qualifications and experience, which may affect the length of the programme or your eligibility.</p> <p>In addition to the above, LBBD apprenticeship opportunities are open only to residents of the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham. Care leavers from LBBD who meet the minimum criteria for the role will be guaranteed an interview.</p>
