We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Project Leader to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of education provision across Barking and Dagenham. This is an exciting opportunity to work across two key Education Service areas—School Investment, Organisation & Admissions and Education Strategy, Commissioning & Intelligence—supporting strategic decision‑making through high‑quality data, analysis, and project leadership. This role is essential in helping the Council meet its statutory duties to ensure sufficient, high‑quality school places and to maintain robust educational planning and intelligence. You will lead on complex data analysis, statutory processes, forecasting, and engagement with schools, partners, and national agencies.

About you

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate: Essential Knowledge, Skills & Experience • Extensive knowledge of pupil place planning, education legislation and DfE guidance. • High‑level analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to interrogate complex datasets. • Experience using Microsoft Excel, PowerBI, GIS and advanced analytical tools (including Python/VBA). • Strong experience in education data analysis and applying insights to strategic planning. • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to tailor information to a range of audiences. • Confidence delivering presentations and engaging senior leaders, partners and schools. • Ability to manage projects, work autonomously, and meet tight statutory deadlines. • Experience building partnerships with schools, agencies and stakeholders. • Demonstrated commitment to equalities, data protection and high professional standards. Personal Qualities • Self‑motivated and able to manage competing demands. • Skilled at making sound judgements using a wide range of data sources. • Diplomatic, adaptable and confident working with sensitive information. • Highly organised, proactive and committed to continuous improvement.
