We are happy to announce a Fixed Term vacancy for the role of Parenting Practitioner. The successful candidate will work alongside the Parenting Coordinator to plan and deliver evidence-based courses along with a wider range of parenting groups to support families with children aged 0-19 across Barking and Dagenham. The role will initially be for 1 year, however an extension may be available, subject to funding.

Duties will include:

  • liaising with parents to recruit to parenting programmes
  • maintain contact with referrers, group facilitators and venues
  • promotion of parenting programmes and groups
  • delivering evidence based parenting programmes (EBPP) including Triple P, Sollihull approach , Strengthening Families Strengthening Communities (SFSC), Incredible Years and Stepping Stones.
  • Delivering in a range of ways to meet the diverse needs of our communities (face to face, online, evenings, weekends,)

Based in the Family Hubs, the Parenting Practitioner will support with maintaining waiting lists and provide support to Parenting Coordinator, including collating data for evaluation of EBPP and promotional materials In addition to this there will be some financial duties such as raising Purchase Orders, processing invoices and supporting with purchasing resources for delivery of parenting programmes. Training will be provided to support with using relevant systems. The Parenting Practitioner will be expected to contribute to the role of improving outcomes for children and families within Barking and Dagenham, ensuring children’s safeguarding and welfare is at the heart of all work undertaken. The Parenting Practitioner will deliver a high-quality service in line with the practice standards and the CARES Framework:

This post will be filled on a years fixed term contract which may be extended subject to funding.

  • Trained Facilitator of evidence based parenting programmes • experience of delivering parenting programmes
  • experience of supporting families via group work.
  • experience of working with families from a range of diverse, cultural backgrounds
  • applications from individuals with additional language skills are welcomed • Are you passionate about parenting programmes?
