London Borough of Barking & Dagenham is looking to recruit a Service Accountant to support effective financial planning, modelling, monitoring and compliance support across revenue, capital and grant-funded activity, including specialist responsibility for the Families First Partnership Grant and the financial sustainability of the Families First Partnership Programme (FFPP) and providing financial advice and support to the Director of Children Care & Support, Head of Finance and Programme Manager.
Special requirements for this post
As a Service Accountant of the Families First Partnership Programme the postholder will provide full-cycle financial support across budgeting, reporting, audit, data analysis, modelling and operational processes, ensuring robust, compliant and forward-looking financial management for the assigned service area.
Specifically, the postholder will lead on specialist grant management and budget responsibilities for the Families First Programme, including multi-year forecasting, financial modelling, statutory returns to the DfE and ensuring alignment to grant conditions.
To co-ordinate the quarterly and annual planning processes for the FFP Programme to ensure robust financial planning, accurate forecasting, early identification of pressures, and risks and the timely submission of monitoring returns
About you
It will be essential for the successful candidate to have a bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or related field (merit or distinction) with at least 1 year finance experience or Part qualified Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies (CCAB) Accountant with at least 1 year finance experience, or fully AAT qualified (Level 4 – merit or distinction) with at least 2 years finance experience.
