We are looking for a committed and passionate Family Contact Worker in a 1 Year Fixed Term Contract vacancy to supervise family contact time for children of various ages who are in Local Authority Care, helping families enjoy their time together. This role also offers the opportunity to gain experience in areas such as creating positive environments, leading mediation, delivering training sessions and producing reports. Barking & Dagenham Children’s Care and Support Services are on a journey of transformation and improvement. In the Specialist Intervention Service, we have created a hub of preventative intervention offers to assist in reducing the number of children who enter the care system as well as improving their life chances and safety. We are working with colleagues across Care and Support to improve the outcomes for children and young people. About you

As a Family Contact Worker, you need to have experience of working with children who are on child protection plans or local authority care. Be a skilled, experienced, motivated, and caring practitioner who can engage children, young people and family members & use a variety of techniques to assist them in changing behaviour and develop creative solutions. You need to have excellent verbal and written communication skills alongside analytical ability and confident decision making, whilst demonstrating the ability to incorporate the Strengthening Families Model which builds on families’ strengths with a focus on protective factors.
