London Borough of Barking and Dagenham

About this job

Following a review of the roles and responsibilities carried out by the Executive Personal Assistants supporting the Senior Leadership Team, three permanent Executive PA posts have been identified for recruitment. Supporting the Senior Leadership Team is a critical function, and the postholder will provide an efficient, proactive and high-quality Executive PA service at Director and Strategic Director level. This will include supporting an extensive range of meetings, alongside complex diary and inbox management.

About you

It is essential that you demonstrate a flexible and proactive approach, with the ability to manage your own workload alongside competing priorities. You will have excellent interpersonal skills, with the confidence and ability to communicate effectively with partners, stakeholders and residents. Working collaboratively as part of a team - providing support when required and sharing good practice - is vital to ensuring continuous improvement in standards and service delivery. If you have the knowledge, skills and experience required for this role and share our values, we would like to hear from you.

The allocation of Executive PAs across departments is being reviewed and this is subject to proposed changes to the Senior Leadership Team.

About us

Over recent years, Barking and Dagenham has been on a journey of transformation, reshaping both the Council and the way services are delivered. Our borough is vibrant and diverse, and this is something we are proud of. As one of the most ethnically and culturally diverse communities in the UK, there is a commitment to make Barking and Dagenham a place where people are proud to live, work, study and stay.

In February 2026, the Council agreed the new boroughwide plan, It Starts Here: Partnerships for Change. The new plan sets out a refreshed vision for the future of the borough, with clear outcomes and a commitment to work closely with partners to improve the lives of residents. Delivering this vision is a key priority. As the fastest growing borough in London, both in terms of population and opportunity, there has never been a more exciting place to further your career or make a difference.
