We are looking for a committed Assessment and Resettlement Officer to join our Housing service and play a vital role in delivering the Ashford Homelessness & Rough Sleeper Strategy. This is a rewarding opportunity to support some of the most vulnerable people in our community by helping rough sleepers and single homeless individuals move away from the streets and into safe, sustainable accommodation.

As an Assessment and Resettlement Officer, you will be working intensively with entrenched rough sleepers, building trust and finding long‑term solutions, along with:

Carrying out early and late street outreach sessions to engage individuals sleeping rough.
Completing holistic assessments, risk assessments, and support plans tailored to each client’s needs.
Helping clients access suitable accommodation and support them to sustain their tenancy.
Providing practical support around budgeting, debt, employment, health, substance misuse, and community integration.

This role involves working with highly vulnerable individuals, including those at risk of exploitation, and requires regular work outside normal office hours.

To excel in this role it is essential that you are resilient, empathetic, and able to work both independently and as part of a wider multi‑agency team and that you have:

At least 2 years’ experience working with entrenched rough sleepers or people with high support needs.
Experience delivering holistic support plans.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
Ability to build effective relationships with partner agencies and community groups.
Confident working with distressed or challenging clients.
